TIPS
FOR REDUCING THAT HIGH ENERGY BILL
BY
DONNA NAPOLITANO
Did
you open your utility bill this month with a gasp? Are your
utility bills shooting through the rooftop? Michigan imports
about three quarters of the natural gas, as well as 100%
of the coal and uranium, and 96% of the oil & petroleum
products. With high-energy needs from residential and commercial
buildings in Michigan, and few energy sources, it is no
wonder we have high energy bills. Utility increases totaled
70% over the last 3 years and again this year another 75%
added to your expense. We definitely have a motivating force
to do something about our energy bills.

HOW SOLAR POWER CAN CHANGE MICHIGAN'S ENERGY FORCAST
Have
you heard that Michigan is facing an energy crisis? Solar
energy has rapidly advanced and is no longer the energy
of the future; it is the energy of today.
It
was once believed that Michigan did not have enough sunlight
to utilize its energy to produce viable power in the state.
In reality, Michigan has more available sunlight during
the summer months than the state of Florida! Cutting-edge
technology has made solar an affordable and practical application
for Michigan residences and businesses.
Michigan
imports 100 percent of its coal and uranium, 96 percent
of oil and petroleum products, and 75 percent of its natural
gas each year - totaling over $18 billion. We are facing
escalating energy needs, with fewer and more costly energy
sources, causing a huge drain on our state's economy. Is
there a light at the end of the "energy tunnel"?
"Yes!"
is the reply, according to Joe and Donna Napolitano, owners
of Mechanical Energy Systems.Involved in the solar industry
since 1980, they offer installation and service of solar
products and alternative energy applications that will produce
"free energy." Visit their working showroom in
Canton and receive a personal tour.
The
Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 includes federal tax credits
up to 30 percent for residential and business installations
of solar hot water and photovoltaic (electric) systems installed
during 2007. Although residential credits are capped at
$2,000, commercial applications are uncapped.
Mechanical
Energy Systems' focus is to help Michigan residents and
businesses manage their energy future through the use of
solar and high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment.
Our team of energy consultants and installers is passionate
about using energy wisely, improving our environment, creating
a better economy and allowing Michigan consumers to better
control their energy budget. |
